Air India

    Air India was founded in October 1932 as Tata Airlines, and commenced operations in July 1946. It is the national carrier of India and headquartered in New Delhi. Its primary hub is at the Indira Gandhi International Airport and secondary hub at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. Air India is the third largest carrier in India after private airline giants Indigo and Jet Airways. Also, it’s a Star Alliance member.

    Air India flies to around 85 destinations (49 domestic and 36 international) in 24 countries around the world. The short-haul routes include cities in Southeast Asia. As of October 2016, Air India flies the world’s longest regular scheduled non-stop flight from New Delhi to San Francisco over the Pacific Ocean.

    Air India has codeshare agreements with 17 other global airlines, including Turkish Airlines, Ethiopian Airways, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines, Asiana Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, Air Canada, and Egypt Air.

    Baggage information

    For international flights, the airline allows you to carry a hand baggage weighing up to 8 kg. Passengers travelling in Executive Class are permitted to carry 40 kg of check-in luggage while Economy Class passengers are allowed to carry check-in luggage weighing up to 30 kg. Baggage exceeding the mentioned limits is chargeable.
